Regime Shifts in the Baltic Sea Ecosystem
- Modelling Complex Adaptive Ecosystems and Governance Implications The aim of this FORMAS project is to: 1) To investigate the interplay between gradual and abrupt change (regime shifts) in the Baltic Sea by analysing trends and potential tipping points in the river loads, marine biogeochemical cycles and in the marine food web as a function of climate and anthropogenic forcing. 2) To derive governance structures necessary to implement an ecosystem approach to management of the various subsystems of the Baltic Sea consisting of the major catchments/watersheds and the main marine basins of the Baltic. The project, which runs from 2010-2013, is lead by Christoph Humborg, Baltic Nest Institute, Stockholm Resilience Centre, Stockholm University Project manager for the project is Thorsten Blenckner, Baltic Nest Institute, Stockholm Resilience Centre, Stockholm University Project communicator for the project is Marmar Nekoro, Baltic Nest Institute, Stockholm Resilience Centre, Stockholm University The project is organized in four Work Packages (WPs, see below) ![]()
