Post doc position in Statistical Marine Ecosystem Modelling available
Baltic Nest Institute announces a two-year post doc position within the frame of the newly founded SU Centre “Baltic Sea Adaptive Management", BEAM.
The main focus of the Baltic Nest Institute (BNI) is development and maintenance of the Nest decision support system and there are research teams on marine, drainage basin and food web modeling and a team working with database and software development. BNI was a key player in the formulation of the Baltic Sea Action Plan and its mandate is to support international negotiations on Baltic Sea restoration. BNI scientists are also involved in various EU research projects and do basic research.

The position
The position is aimed to apply advanced statistical tools to test for trends, regime shifts, early warning indicators and thresholds in the Baltic Sea ecosystem using long-term monitoring data.

The scientist will further be part of the newly formed Centre of Excellence “The Nordic Centre for Research on Marine Ecosystems and Resources under Climate Change" funded by Nordforsk.

Qualifications and terms of employment
The position requires a person with a Ph.D., with good statistical knowledge and good skills in ecological theory. The successful candidate will contribute to BEAM by providing thresholds and targets of ecosystem indicators, which are required for ecosystem-based management. Past experience in time-series analysis and ecosystem functioning is necessary.

The position is a two-year full-time employment and starting by agreement, with a placement at the Baltic Nest Institute, Stockholm Resilience Centre.
